It is interesting that Wal-Mart has seen the communication value of this
listserv. It would be interesting if other major corporations followed
them and communicated their EC/EDI plans as well on this listserv.

There is a lot of miscommunication out there about Wal-Mart's direction
for
suppliers moving to EDIINT AS2. Suppliers can find more information by
logging into Retail Link*. To clear up the miscommunication, the
following
is Wal-Mart's marketing message to suppliers about AS2.
1) Wal-Mart endorses EDIINT AS2 as a secure, fast, easy method of
communicating EDI transactions over the Internet.
2) Wal-Mart has chosen iSoft Corporation's Commerce Suite to
implement
EDIINT AS2.
3) Wal-Mart has negotiated a free single use license from iSoft for
all
Wal-Mart suppliers ($300 annual maintenance required). This software
can be
obtained through Retail Link*.
4) Because EDIINT AS2 is an interoperable technology, suppliers can
use
any interoperable certified software by EAN.UCC and Drummond Group to
communicate with Wal-Mart. The list of certified providers can be found
at
http://www.drummondgroup.com <http://www.drummondgroup.com> . Wal-Mart
supports only the list from the latest round of interoperable testing.
5) Suppliers must primarily communicate directly with Wal-Mart over
AS2
and have a BACK-UP VAN Contingency with either IBM or Sterling Commerce.
Suppliers can not use a 3rd party service provider to communicate with
Wal-Mart.
6) Wal-Mart DOES NOT endorse and HAS NOT partnered with any AS2
software provider or any AS2 software product.
