RE: More $$$ for Multi AS2 Partners?

Another key factor which may prevent widespread adoption of AS2 is the lack
of support for mailboxing (push-pull). AS2 is push-push only.

Several organizations have elected to use ebXML's Message Service instead of
AS2 because it supports push-push, push-pull (mailboxing) AND RPC/real-time
application integration. Plus, ebXML is an internationally recognized
standard with the endorsement of UN/CEFACT and DISA. Lastly, there are
freeware ($0.00) ebXML solutions available that have no limitations on the
number of trading partners or similar restrictions.

AS2 is only an Internet draft, at this point. It's unclear if/when AS2 will
become an Internet standard.

Please don't misunderstand my comments above, I'm one of the co-authors of
AS2 and have implemented numerous AS2 solutions. I simply want to point out
some of the issues that have been identified with AS2, which were addressed
in ebXML's Message Service (which I also co-authored).

Full disclosure is a good thing!

The AS2 software market will shake out soon. The fewer people who sign up
on these unrealistic licenses, the sooner it will happen. Competition
works, just wait and see.
