Peter,
As my comments stated there are technologies to compress data files of
all kinds and these technologies are getting better. Bandwidth can be
an issue but it is not an insurmountable issue to resolve. Of all the
issues around XML bandwidth is probably pretty low on the concern list.
My comments also mentioned there are numerous products on the market to
help implement XML (and EDI) and I represent one of them. I have never
hidden the fact I am a vendor of a software tool that can help elevate
some if the concerns you have with implementing XML. I talk to people
all the time who use a text editor to create schemas and wonder why it
is so difficult and many are unaware of the products out there that have
a wide range of price depending on what they do ('you get what you pay
for').

Happy Holidays,

No matter how you slice it, David, XML is a pig compared to X12. I take
your other comments to be less than subtle marketing. They certainly
aren't
responsive to anything I posted.

Peter,
There are a number of tools on the market including ours to help build
XML schemas according to various implementations. There are also
products like ours that help integrating between X12 and XML. Lastly
there are also compression products that can help diminish band width
issues.
The big issue is which XML implementation or 'standard' you are going to
use.
