There were at least 1.2 and 1.4; a 2.0 (which had a very short life-span); then
5.0, 6.0, 6.5 and now 6.7. (This does NOT include
all the service packs; for example, I know there were at least three SPs for
5.0).
I'd guess the first Mercator came out about 1994 or so, although I never worked
with it until 1996. (I had heard about it a couple
years before I had a chance to actually work with it).

If this is an accurate statement, it's before I became acquainted with Mercator,
so it must be 1994 or earlier. Until this very
moment I had never heard of "Kidmap."
