RE: <MISC> Beware, Wal-Mart takes 1% off your TDS01

William,
Pricing basically includes anything to do with $. I am not going to get
into a debate over anti-trust issues since this is not my area of
expertise.
Whoever is supplying your information about Wal-Mart seems to be
contrary to my experiences working with several Fortune 100 suppliers to
Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is like any other very large organization that can
negotiate pricing but they do not determine the pricing. There are many
suppliers of branded products that still have leverage even with
Wal-Mart. I would suggest going to Wal-Mart and picking up some holiday
reading on the autobiography of Sam Walton. He grew up in a small
Arkansas town and learned the art of negotiation.
I was taking a respite from the listservs until you put up these
misleading comments about Wal-Mart and in the holiday spirit I felt I
needed to correct your misguided comments.
Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year (even to Wal-Mart).

Dave, try not to get your undies knotted in a bunch over this one.
Richard's posting has nothing to do with pricing; rather, he's
discussing some kind of an EDI mis-interpretation of the TDS01.
Presumably this would affect every supplier similarly. Richard's client
isn't conspiring with other suppliers to set prices and "shakedown"
Wal-Mart; besides, suppliers have little pricing power with Wal-Mart.
Why don't you take a respite from the listserves over the holidays? Ho,
Ho, Ho.

Richard,
I realize you are just trying to be helpful in this issue with Wal-Mart.
I am not a lawyer but I have been in enough trade association meetings
to know that it is a no to talk about anything to do with pricing in any
open forum with people in the same industry. I don't know who is all on
this listserv but my personal comment would be not to discuss these
issues on this listserv for possible antitrust reasons. It is just a
heads up on the issue. Sorry I didn't mean to be the grinch.

Beware, Wal-Mart takes 1% off your TDS01 when paying your invoice even
though you send an allowance in a SAC summary segment. Per standards
TDS01 is the total amount of invoice (including charges, less
allowances) before terms discount (if discount is applicable). In this
regard it is my understanding the TDS01 should be the sum of IT1 qtys.
multiplied by IT1 prices minus allowances in the SAC.
Wal-Mart does not pay off IT1 qtys. multiplied by IT1 prices minus SAC
allowances. They pay you 99% of what you send them in the TDS01.
A client of mine was billing Wal-Mart for the sales amount (IT1) minus a
1% discount (SAC) in TDS01. They have been sending IT1, SAC and TDS
(IT1-SAC) in the 810. i.e. Wal-Mart is trying to pay them 99% of 99% of
the true balance.
We have stopped sending the SAC on the 810 and adjusted the TDS01 to be
equal to the sum of IT1 qtys. multiplied by IT1 prices regardless of
discounts.
*Terms discount (ITD in the 850) is not the same as an allowance (SAC
in the 850, 810).
