RE: what book version of x.12 should I own

Renee:
Tell us why you think you need it. Usually
only necessary for programming or debugging
thorny, negative 997's that application software
does not adequately handle.
BTW - careful with your X.12's - they have
been known to provoke the more detail-
oriented members!

Subject: [EDI-L] what book version of x.12 should I own
This is probably a ridiculous question to those of you who have been
doing EDI for quite some time but as I told you before I am quite new at
this. The latest hard copy of x.12 that we have in house is 003040.
Should I be contacting DISA and getting a newer version? I realize it
is expensive so I thought I should get some more profession advice from
all of you. We are not members of DISA and I have been quoted $525 to
get the 004050 version. We are currently not running anything newer than
004030.
At present I am not sure how much new work I will be doing. I know we
hope to be migrating from Trading Partner TSI on the mainframe (which is
not supported) to Mercator or Gentran by 2003 year end.
Thanks for your help,
Renee Feitelberg
