RE: what book version of x.12 should I own
The next X12 trimester meeting is this February in Denver (www.x12.org)
for those interested in participating in the EDI standards process.

I think there are lots of preferences that people have on the right
medium of the standards, paper, CD-Rom etc. The fact that there are
choices
is good. Currently, we own the standards up to 4030 and will probably
purchase 4050. I will purchase the entire set from Disa. They are a
great
organization and are a valuable resource.

This is probably a ridiculous question to those of you who have been
doing
EDI for quite some time but as I told you before I am quite new at this.
The latest hard copy of x.12 that we have in house is 003040. Should I
be
contacting DISA and getting a newer version? I realize it is expensive
so
I thought I should get some more profession advice from all of you. We
are
not members of DISA and I have been quoted $525 to get the 004050
version.
We are currently not running anything newer than 004030.
At present I am not sure how much new work I will be doing. I know we
hope to be migrating from Trading Partner TSI on the mainframe (which is
not supported) to Mercator or Gentran by 2003 year end.
