RE: ERP-to-EDI - SAP update

Since we are talking about SAP this might be of interest to the SAP
community:
SAP reorganizes U.S. sales force, lays off 132
The company's U.S. sales personnel will now have a more regional focus,
handling a broader array of products for a more local group of
customers.

SAP used to pass out MS Excel spreadsheets with some X12 mappings at the
EDI
class. The mappings listed below also used to be available at
http://www.saptech.com. I couldn't find them when I just visited. I
have
the following: from SAP.
Generic 856 Pick Pack Advance Ship Notice to SHPMNT02 IDoc
Generic 810 Invoice Mapping Document
Generic 850 Inbound Orders Mapping Document
They may help. They don't seem to have a copyright notice so I should be
able to post them in the Files section if anyone wants them.
You can always do what I have done when a new SAP release comes out and
that
is to enter field specific data in all relevant fields for one customer,
one
material, one location, etc. Then run through the order-to-cash cycle
and
divine the SAP functionality that way. Presumably this might work for
other
SAP business scenarios. I found my method was more reliable and
efficient
than pouring over all the code which for me, at least, has gotten more
difficult as the function modules have been upgraded. You do have to
allow
for the EDPAR table also. Not a trivial exercise but as a consultant I
found it well worth my effort. Unfortunately, I do not give these
mappings
away.
