Re: EDI Consulting & Rate Question
Rates are going to be dependent on your location, the skill set of the
consultant, the duration of the engagement, and on the organization supplying
the person. I know of EDI consultants with law degrees, PhDs, CPAs, MBAs, BAs,
and AAs. Some have 30 years experience and some have a single year. And they
can have extremely wide-ranging technical, business, managerial, and personal
skills. Do you want a star, a journeyman, or an apprentice? A trainer, a
programmer, an architect? Do you need EDI consulting or a temporary operations
person? Are you willing to engage a consultant directly or do you have to work
through preferred vendors? Preferred vendors may add up to $100 per hour to a
consultants hourly rate. Do you need someone for a day, a week or six months?
If you describe your requirements, someone may be able to provide an accurate
estimate. My recent experience has been that rates are currently ranging
nationwide from $75-150/hour.
