RE: Mainframe to Unix conversion

James,
This is very doable. We did this as part of our migration strategy
when we moved from IBM mainframe to SAP on Unix (years ago). Our EDI
migration was completed prior to the migration to SAP. As long as you
choose a tool to transfer the data that will do the EBCDIC to/from ASCII
conversion for you, there should be no issue. (Obviously you have to
have maps for the appropriate application data formats).

You don't state what kind of mainframe you are using. My point
is that if you are on an IBM mainframe, you have to watch for any EBCDIC
to ASCII translation problems.
