First off, If you are so proud to be Indian go the hell back!
Second, this is not an isolated case, every contract I have been on with H1B's
they have not clue what they were doing regardless of what translator or system
was being used. You say "if your good and cheap you get the job" which is true
but the key word is "GOOD." When a client opens up a req of course they want
someone who is good but why do you think they get an H1B who has either lied
about their experience or has no experience at all? It's not because these
people are just so incredibly smart it because they will work for peanuts. I
have worked on many contracts where the client would get a bunch of H1B's in
first, and they would mess up the project (since they lied about their
experience) and nothing would get done correctly. The client would then get a
few "qualified" Americans to come in and do it correctly. Companies care about 1
thing only, the price.

Lastly: Since when did a 3rd world country become the technical mecca of the
world? I doubt if I ever went to India (and believe me I would never go) I would
see a bunch of people on camels with laptops doing EDI.

Sorry to rant but these people just [expletive deleted] me off beyond belief. Every American
in the industry must fight to get rid of the H1B program.

A few things I would like to point out:
- The people you mentioned should not have been picked in the first
place if they showed lack of knowledge
- If they were picked up for a reason, and couldn't deliver, then they
should've been fired.
- No good school will teach you Mercator or Harbinger. It'll give you a
foundation for any software concept. The rest is up to how you can use
that knowledge to use a product, or to make one, to get the job done.
- No body's smart until he can use the situation and opportunities he
has got to create change for the better, whether he's American or H1B
holder
- "CHEAP LABOR" That's market economy for you, if you're good AND
cheap, you get my job. If you are not one of these things, I get my job
back from you
- I'm Indian and proud of it

It's not the schools. Most H1B that I have worked with have lied about
their experience. Last year I was on a Harbinger contract and the
company brought in some H1B who were "experts". None of them ever saw
EDI nor even Harbinger. They sat there with the training manual trying
to figure it out. Jobs are not given to them because they are just so
much smarter than the American worker. They only get the jobs because
they will work much cheaper.
I don't mean to start an argument on this topic. Please take any
comments off line so we don't load up everyones email with this. I just
wanted add that since I get very very annoyed when people say these
foreign workers are just so much smarter than American workers. The
only reason the get the jobs is because they will work for very cheap
and they lie about their experience. This is something most
consultants fell very strongly about since we are constantly fighting
with foreign workers for the same jobs. With unemployment at a all time
high why should we be fighting with foreign workers? The reason is
because those same 2 words CHEAP LABOR.

their school system train them better than ours,
therefore most of the time they have better qualified people & cheap
labor..... (just my opinion, don't mean to start an argument)

..and no, I am not from India.

Shame on our school system (at least the one in Palm beach county,
Florida).

The reason is due to 2 simple words CHEAP LABOR. Why pay an full price
for
an American when you could get an H1B for half the price. Better yet
you can
just send the job overseas just like the job description listed below!
