RE: <Misc> Duplicates Within Envelopes

There is also the widely accepted use of blanket purchase orders along with
the scheduled releases associated with the Blanket PO. These codes are
defined within the standard (PO types). There is also the change order
process, the 860 as well. One thing I would highly recommend is to work
collaboratively with your trading partner to review the process from their
application all the way through their EDI system. In the final analysis,
the Trading Partner could be slowing down the fulfillment process.
Good luck!

Howard,
I realize you can't tell a customer what to do but the ideal way to
handle multiple orders against one PO number is to use release numbers.

I told them to CUT IT OUT! :) Make sure they are true duplicates,
though. I
did receive an interchange recently with numerous duplicated PO numbers,
but
the POs themselves were for different products going to different
locations.
We don't have a requirement that PO numbers be unique, but we do have
Gentran hold the order when the PO is duplicated for inspection because
it
most likely is a mistake. If this is a problem for your system but not
for
them, it's not likely you can convince them to change.
If they have duplicated control numbers, the group/documents should be
rejected on the 997. Otherwise it's a data issue, not an EDI issue, so
you
need to contact the sender as soon as possible.

Does anyone else have trading partners that send duplicate
documents
within an ISA envelope?
I'd like to know how any one else resolved this with their trading
partners.
