RE: <SALES> questions on implementing EDI

Hi Rob,
Softshare offers two low cost, and easy to implement solutions. You can use our
Softshare Delta mapper (see http://www.softshare.com/software/delta/) to convert
your flat files to the appropriate EDI compliant transactions for Food Lion and
Wal-Mart. Once the EDI transactions have been created based upon the mapping
rules you write, you then can then use your AS2 package to transmit the data to
both trading partners. This solution does require some understanding of data
translation, but our mapper is available for less than $5000.00 thus making this
a very cost-effective solution.
Secondly we offer a forms-based system within our Softshare Vista desktop
product (see http://www.softshare.com/software/vista/) which has the templates
for Food Lion and Wal-Mart pre-configured for the easy creation of the EDI
invoices. Our LexiCom AS2 bridge will let you hand off the EDI compliant
transactions from Softshare Vista to the LexiCom AS2 product for transmission to
the respective trading partners. This solution costs a little less up-front
(around $2500 plus you will need the Cleo LexiCom software) and it requires far
less technical expertise. However, since it is a forms-based system, you lose
the integration with your back-end accounting system.
Please don't hesitate to call us if you have any question, or visit our Web site
for a demo of either or both products.

Subject: [EDI-L] questions on implementing EDI
Hello,
We are a small/mid sized bakery in Mass.
Foodlion & Walmart want us to submit invoices va EDI.
We've 140-150 invoices per week to send. The invoices have an
average 15 detail items and total around $90.
I'm a computer programer, and have used a 4-gl called Pro4 for the
last 12 years .
My understanding is I need to export a flat file , import it to a
translator and send the file to our TP. Both TP's use AS2.
** Could I get some recomendations for a simple / not very expensive
translator
and howto send the edi file to our tp's? **
I use linux servers and linux n desktop. If I need to i can setup a
windows pc or run windows or dos under linux.
Thanks in advance
