Both products have their pros and cons but it sounds like you have some
bias from your previous experience. When you compare the products I
would make sure you look at the newest release of BizTalk (BizTalk
2002). Also look at the complete cost of both products. BizTalk
requires other Microsoft software that unless you are a Microsoft shop
there will be an added cost.
If you plan on using XML with Gentran there is an added cost for this
product. I would also suggest talking to healthcare reference sites for
both products. Good luck.

I have been using the Gentran NT product for around 6 years in the
retail industry and have recently been hired by a healthcare company do
begin doing HIPAA compliant documents using BizTalk.
So far, I do not care for BizTalk at all for the healthcare needs of
EDI. Has anyone used both Gentran and BizTalk? Does anyone know of any
online tutorials/classes I might sign up for to acclamate me a little
better to BizTalk? The new company is willing to buy Gentran if I can
show a definite advantage of it's usefulness and effectiveness over
BizTalk.
Any feedback would be extremely appreciated!
