Re: Average Cost question

Cindy:
Part of the reason we changed to Commport was because we could not get a clear
enough picture form ANY of the other VANs to determine an actual per document
cost, or even a clean per kilocharacter cost. Every time we looked there was
either not a straightforward transaction count (you know how many ST's did I
send receive) or they added peak-offpeak connections, connection fees, access
fees, interconnect fees and so on.
Every month Commport provides me with a detailed billing (free!) showing by
trading partner how many transactions (PO's Invoices ASNs etc), what that
amounted to in kilocharacters for the trading partner (with inbound and outbound
separated) and how many segments were in that count as well.
We pretty much know every angle involved, because when we signed up we could
choose to be billed by any one of these three options and that billed rate
include ALL other charges - there is absolutely no confusion. Makes my
reporting and my budgeting real easy. We accurately charge the cost of the EDI
to each of my trading partners for true "cost of doing business" analysis.
Quite literally if you are trying to use any other VANs invoices you will be
guessing at best. Good Luck!
