Of course, null is not the same as zero. In any case, according to the ANSI
X12 standard, if SAC01 = "C", then SAC05, SAC07, or SAC08 must be populated.
Thus, your example, SAC*C*G830***0**********Free shipping*EN~, would not pass
syntax check if SAC05 were null.
Another example of the possible difference of SAC05 being null or 0:
According to the standard, if the SAC05 is populated, it takes precedence over
SAC07 or SAC08 if present. Therefore,
SAC*C*G830***0**2
is not the same as
SAC*C*G830*****2
