Brian,
It seems to me that you should start with your requirements and then create
a list of products that meet those requirements - eg.
single-user/multi-user, rip-and-read/integrated with your backend software,
with/without maps for your industry/trading partners, platform to run on,
etc., etc., etc.
Even the highest ranked product, regardless of how it's ranked by someone
else, may not meet your needs.
"Best of breed" depends entirely on which breed you belong to.
I'm sure you'll get responses from vendors whose products meet your
requiremetns if you publish your requirements.
You can then narrow down that list based on functionality, references, etc.
