No, parsing is practically a non-issue for XML, what with free, standard
SAX and DOM parsers, XSLT and XPath. Of course, as you and Mike Rawlins
have made clear, we still have to come up with desirable structures for
XML usage in the X12, UN /CEFACT and ebXML processes so we have truly
scalable and interoperable XML-based e-business standards.

But, in the meantime, if you have some programming aptitude and a
trading partner willing to play around with XML, too, why not use UBL or
the OAGIS BODs - or even make up your own messages? What's the harm?

Is the process of parsing really more complicated or are we still
leaning both the desirable structures for XML usage and working out the
kinks in the standardization process, same regardless of syntax?
