<SALES> RE: translator question...

Hi Olga,
This is sort of a sales response for you. First, I wanted to mention that there
has been a recent posting by another list user with a similar question. If you
search the archive for this list, you will find the thread by searching under
"inexpensive." This thread was started by Alice Raia.
Softshare and several other companies have responded to this thread. Perhaps
you can get further user-feedback from this list, which is the second most
valuable source of information in determining a new solution (behind actually
using the software in-house). I'm sure you will be exposed to several new
software providers as a result (which is great for you).
Softshare's software, VAN services, and partners probably can meet (I'd like to
clarify further and see samples of your files before I definitively say "yes")
your requirements you mentioned below. For further information, feel free to
contact me at 800-346-6703.
Cheers,
Nathan Camp

Subject: [EDI-L] translator question...
I am in the retail industry, shipping mostly fashion merchandise.
Using GE, Advantis and NetVan as Van, and soon starting AS2...
I am looking for a software solution running on PC- Windows(whatever), what
can map flat files into EDI documents- (a simple translator until now)...
Specifically,
- I am looking for solution where I can map in text-interface files
myself,
/so my ERP software will not have to change just as a final
stage.../
(I know it works as long, as I have the data somewhere in the
interface file(s) & etc...)
- and I can write (realistically just adjust if needed ) my own Edi maps
as well.
- the communication part should support AS2 and traditional Vans... FTP
would be nice....
Currently we can't adjust anything and this is a pain to have the ERP and
the EDI mappers coordinate to fix their independent software parts...(not
mentioning the shifting responsibilities and the painfully slow
documentation of the changes...)... how much analysis this requires from my
side I can just do my changes myself...
Of course, something on the cheap side since the "budget" word is unknown at
my company...
Can someone suggest any package?
Br, Olga Berkesi
