What is the hex value of what they send.... Is it a hex 37 (EOT).
I'd like to see the entire trace. Generally you should see you issuing the
SYN (probably twice) and you should get either an ACK0 or ACK1 in return
(hex 1061 or hex 1070). You then issue your $$request card and then issue a
line turnaround, you should see an ACK0 or ACK1 back (a WACK if the host is
busy) and then your data should be received. Be sure on device description
or in your ICFDEVE that you turn transparency OFF and do not truncate
trailing blanks. I THINK that MCI wants the logon record to be 80
characters. Sound like they are sending you an EOT because they don't like
your signon record.

You don't have to have your AS400 directly on the internet to use FTP. You
can use a NATed address or use something like a proxy server to route the
data thru.

Carl
Yes, this is in house. I did a trace and after I send my $$REQUEST record,
the remote responds back with a '/' and then disconnects. We do not want
our AS/400 on the internet so we can't use FTP. I have no problem connecting
to 800-228-2403. It picks up on the 1st ring. Originally I set the line
desc as half duplex but MCI said to change it to full duplex. Either way
didn't matter. Do you have an example line desc and device desc? Thanks.

Hi Gina:
What you have looks correct.
Have you done a communications trace on the AS400 to see what is going on at
a protocol level? (you can do it from STRSST). Also, did you write your
own comm to MCI? Or are you using the comm routines in either Inovis or
Sterling?

We have moved most of our AS400 clients from dial up BSC to FTP over the
internet. We were getting lots of busy signals with MCI BSC dial up.

Also, as a small commercial, we sell both an MCI comm module and an FTP
module (general) for the AS/400 if you are interested.

Is anyone doing bysinc with the MCI van?
I was told that the script to receive was $$REQUEST ID=XXXX BID='XXXXX'
When I connect, MCI does not respond back. Can anyone verify the Script?
Also if anyone has an AS/400 line description and device description
example, that would be helpful. Thank you.
