I think you need to determine your long term needs regarding EDI at this
point in time. We started off needing to just send EDI invoices to one of
customers and now 4 years later we are exchanging all sorts of EDI documents
in both directions.

It's easy enough to deal with a one off by creating a stand alone system but
if you are really going to grow the e-commerce side of the business then you
will want to purchase an EDI translation and gateway package.

I work for a small to medium sized company that is looking to move to
electronic invoicing. We currently do electronic ordering and
receive paper invoices. If our larger suppliers can send X.12 810
transactions, would a translation package be the best option? We use
IBM RS6000/AIX servers, Windows 2000 servers, and Windows 2000
desktops.
