William,

Thanks for the tutorial.

I used to have teenagers. One is now an English composition teacher with a
background in linguistics. She writes only comprehensible things, except
her poetry, which as a technically-oriented guy is totally incomprehensible
to me. Give me Poe or R.W. Service, these guys I understand. The other
erstwhile teen is a classically trained musician, and could easily skew the
Mensa I.Q. mean upwards. He doesn't write as poetically as his sister, but
still is wont to express himself so that people who understand the English
or French languages can comprehend.

I was aware of the colloquial meaning of "ur", but figured since a recruiter
is looking for professional people, they themselves would deport and express
themselves in a professional manner. That being so, you must be wrong.
Hey, there's always a first time, don't you think? ;-)

Art, it's apparent you haven't any teenagers - or at least you don't get
e-mail or instant messaging from them. I think "ur" means "your." It's
a kind of shorthand teens like to use among themselves. As in "R U
going to the mall? Will ur folks give you the car?" And stuff like
that. Except that teens often don't use punctuation.

Get with the program, will you?

Now, of course, in professional communications we only use complete
English sentences. And absolutely no emoticons.

Okay, now we all know that a CV is found on a desk rather than an
undercarriage. But what the heck is "ur" (as in "Rush ur cv's")? I
read that Ur was the ancestral home of Abraham (nee Abram), whom Jews,
Moslems and Christians regard as patriarch. It was sometimes rendered
"Ur of the Chaldeas." But what does that have to do with a resumé or
Curriculum Vitae or constant velocity joints?
