To me, the 022 - Invalid Control Structure is the catch all reason code
on the TA1 - basically anything that can't be reported via one of the
other codes. Example being - this isn't an X12 file (e.g. ISA is not
found in positions 1-3, incomplete ISA, etc.). Sending back an 022
requires that you know who the original file came from via some other
means that the ISA ;-)

I don't see anything wrong with your input file unless what you pasted
into your email is an exact copy - it appears to me that the Receiver ID
is only 10 characters long. If that is the reason for rejection, then
it could have reported it as 008 - Invalid Interchange Receiver ID.

I'm doing internal testing with my EAI tool (seebeyond). Problem
occurred
when sending a test 997 into the system. It spit me back out a TA1
Interchange Acknowledgment. It's the first TA1 segment that I've ever
seen and it shows a rejection of 997 documents sent, plus the following:

22^Invalid Control Structure

Below is the 997 outbound document sent. What is the above error
telling
me is wrong with the data? Is it having a problem with the control
number? Thanks.

997

ISA*00* *00* *ZZ*ALLSTATEFSS *01*196938484
*030729*1911*U*00401*0
00003458*0*T*>~GS*FA*ALLSTATEFSS*196938484*20030729*1911*3458*X*004010X0
98~ST*997*30372~AK1
*PO*2292~AK9*A*1*1*1~SE*4*30372~GE*1*3458~IEA*1*000003458~

The returning TA1

ISA*00* *00* *01*196938484 *ZZ*ALLSTATEFSS
*030731*1513*U*00401*0
00000012*0*T*>
TA1*000003458*030729*1911*R*022
IEA*0*000000012

Anybody see the problem? If you do not see a problem within the data,
can
you tell me what the error "Invalid Control Structure" is supposed to be

referring to?
