RE: Other

RE: [EDI-L] Other

Not trying to dump on you, but you are worth to your employer what he can
replace you for on the open market. Granted, you have been there for 6
years and know a lot about the business, and being a one man band, that is
important. You walk and all the IT knowledge of the company goes out the
door.... These are all in your favor.

However, the job market is very soft now (although I do think it is
improving). There are probably lots of candidates to take your job if you
decide to leave. I would say, be happy you have a job. There are plenty of
unemployed IT people on this list that would love to fill your shoes if you
decide to leave.

First off again very happy I found the group, was by pure accident and glad
to be here, I also feel a little funny using my personal ID for the group
but what the heck.

Now onto my question, I work for a small manufacturing company with sales
around 12mil and growing and when I started there 6 years ago they were in
the stoneage as far as technology, as the company grows so does its IT needs
which I support all alone, which is fine with me but I get the sort of feel
at times that they don't understand the mechanics of it and nor do I expect
them to, I guess I am asking this question because I am in review time and
asking for more money than they offered and we are in intense negotiations
right now. The company is located just outside NYC, and though I make good
money with them I am slightly, not slightly a little more than slightly
below what I have found to be the pay grade in my research.

Not sure what my question is now that I am writing this I guess its more
like a indirect poll to see how some of you feel, do you encounter similar
obstacles in your employment.
