New Line representation

Subject: New Line representation
Hi All,

How can I represent a new Line character as a delimiter for a Map in a single
character. For eg: '~' can be added as a CHAR(1) but a new line representation
would normally be '\n' which cannot be accomodated in a CHAR(1) datatype. Should
the datatype for the map be changed or is there some kind of a new line symbol
which works for a CHAR(1) datatype? (in context of MERCATOR)

Thanks,
Deepak
