RE: ISA-14 Acknowlegement Request

Gina,
You are correct in that the 997 is not related to the ISA-14, however, that
is generally in lieu of a Trading Partner Agreement. Some people do not
want it, although it is good practice to send / receive it.
The ISA-14 indicates that you are requesting a TA1 Acknowldgement. (Found
that one out the hard way years ago, by setting that field and getting a TA1
.. unintentionally).
"The TA1 is a single segment and is unique in the sense that this single
segment is transmitted without the GS/GE envelope structures.
A TA1 can be included in an interchange with other functional groups and
transactions. "
Taken from "ASC X12 Nomenclature" Appendix A.1.5.1 (004010X098 . 837 ASC
X12N . INSURANCE SUBCOMMITTEE HEALTH CARE Guide).
Hope this helps,

Subject: [EDI-L] ISA-14 Acknowlegement Request
Hello Group
Can anyone give a further explanation of the ISA-14 Acknowlegement request
field?
As I understand it, a 997 is generated regardless if the value is '0' or
'1'. It is generated as long as the partner requests it. Does the '1'
signify sending a 'TA1' sengment in the 997?
Thanks in advance.
