Re: ISA-14 Acknowlegement Request

10/20/03
TA1 Interchange Acknowledgment segments are NOT contained in the 997 Functional
Acknowledgement, they are sent within an interchange
but outside of functional groups.
A "1" in ISA 14 means, "please *send* a TA1." ISA14 says nothing about what is
contained in the interchange. Note: you never send a
TA1 to acknowledge receipt of a TA1.. kind of creates an endless loop.
Sounds like you could use a little help reading 997's and TA1s... I suggest (he
said, shamelessly) you surf over to ...
http://www.talsystems.com/tsihome_html/popup_fa997.html
.. and download the evaluation version of this standalone desktop software which
gives you a nice formatted report of all 997 and
TA1 found in an input file. When you see how easy it will make your life, you'll
be happy yo send in the $25.00 fee for a
non-limited version. (That's right, only twenty-five bucks).

It is generated as long as the partner requests it.
Does the '1' signify sending a 'TA1' sengment in the 997?
