I see you are already looking at Ascential, but FWIW the Mercator (now called
DataStage) product is as fine an any-to-any mapper I
have ever seen. (If a tad pricey for less-than-frequent use).
It's a hell of a nice product, but... it's not easy to learn and use, and if you
do not use it regularly you will get 'rusty' right
quick. This means if they tell you a non-techie can step right up and start
creating type trees and maps, that's a bit of
overstatement. (And what I just said is a bit of understatement!).
Just watch out which 'adapters' are included... apparently the new packaging has
differences between "Desktop" and "Design Studio"
even though it sure looks on the web site as though "Design Studio" is part of
"Desktop." I put in a call to Ascential Sales on
Friday on precisiely this question but have not yet got a callback on it.

below. (Been using Mercator since 1997, have current customers on versions 1.4
(!), 5.0 and 6.7)
