Possibly, but "going electronic" offers many benefits; each potential user of
EDI technology will have his own evaluation of which
benefits are most relevant to his organization and what weight is applied to
each benefit.

Call me naive, but "let's do the same amount of work at a lower payroll expense"
sure sounds like a benefit to me. Of course, my
view is terribly biased by my 20+ years experience as a P&L-responsible
executive (before I ever became an IT consultant).

No. The professional EDI consultant (or any consultant) serves his client,
period. The implement/no implement decision - and its
ramifications- are reserved solely to the client.
