Tracy,

MySQL is just plain rock solid, albeit lacking some of the features that
are included in other platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or
even PostgreSQL (chances are that you don't need the features, though).

On what kind of platform are you running the MySQL server? Is it a Sun
Solaris box, and is it x86 or SPARC-based? For example, you might be
otherwise running it on an AIX, Linux, or other kind of UNIX host.

You might want to find a good UNIX consultant to help, as I know that
MySQL can be made to run solid and should take care of things just fine.
