Re: Odette self-billed INVOIC - how prolific?

Hi.
My understanding is that self-billed invoice is very much used in Europe.
The folks at EDIFICE (www.edifice.org - "The European B2B forum for the
electronics Industry") might be able to tell you about the work they've
done. Perhaps your company might like to check them out. The secretariat
is in Belgium. Their next plenary theme is 'B2B integration in the
Automotive Industry'. It's February 22-26, and being hosted by Oracle in
Paris, FR (on the EDIFICE web site, go to 'News' then 'Plenaries').

Subject: [EDI-L] Odette self-billed INVOIC - how prolific?
Hello!
How much is the self-billed invoice used in Europe? We have a
European customer implementing our ERP package (including our native
EDI option) & they will be doing EDI with Nissan. One of the
transactions is a "self-billed invoice" where Nissan pays off of the
856 rather than an 810. This is standard for the automotive industry
in the US as well, & we handle it quite nicely in our software (820
arrives & we create an "unposted" cash receipt automatically).
On the one hand we don't want to over-simplify this & treat it just
like remittance advice, we're still investigating the business rules
involved. On the other hand, I don't want to support this as a rip &
read transaction indefinitely if it's prolific in European EDI
markets. Right now we only have one customer who needs it, and
because our EDI is native to our ERP package, we don't want to design
something custom just for them.
Thanks in advance,
